Spicy margaritas have become a new favorite cocktail of mine. I have always found margaritas too sweet, but I love how a spicy marg cuts that sweetness. So refreshing and fun for summer! When I started doing a little research on how to make the best spicy marg at home, infusing your own tequila seemed to be key… it is way easier than it sounds and it’s so fun to see how your liquor of choice turns out! I ordered a couple of large mason jars from Amazon to try my hand at infusing my own vodka and tequila. If you know my family, you know we all loved a themed party! For my mom’s birthday in May, we celebrated with a tropical luau on the deck. Yes, we decorate and have themed parties for just the six of us, lol. I infused vodka with pineapple and tequila with jalapenos. I played bartender for the night, making a tropical martini and spicy pineapple marg… both turned out to be delicious and restaurant quality. Infusing your own liquor is as simple as cutting up your desired fruit or pepper, letting it sit with the liquor in an airtight container for a few days, removing the fruit or pepper from the liquid and there you have it! The best flavored vodka or tequila. I’ve listed the steps below for my go-to spicy pineapple marg and infusing tips. Check out my instagram page for the full reel. Cheers!
Infusing Instructions:
- Slice one medium jalapeno. Remove seeds for less spice, keep seeds if you desire a spicier tequila.
- Pour tequila into mason jar. (I ordered these from Amazon.)
- Add jalapenos.
- Let jalapenos and tequila infuse for 3-5 days.
- Strain jalapenos from tequila.
- Spicy tequila is ready to drink!
Follow same instructions for pineapple infused vodka, etc.
Spicy Pineapple Margarita Recipe
Ingredients:
- Jalapeno infused tequila
- 1 Lime
- Pineapple Juice
- Triple Sec
- Chile-Lime Seasoning Blend from Trader Joes (Tajin works great, too!)
- Sea salt
With an empty glass, line the rim with a slice of lime.
Mix sea salt and chile-lime seasoning together on a plate.
Turn the glass rimmed with lime upside and rotate rim through the seasoning blend.
Fill glass with ice.
In a shaker, (I LOVE Blender Bottles in place of a cocktail shaker – makes it so frothy!) add ice, two shots of jalapeno infused tequila.
Add one shot triple sec.
Add as much pineapple juice as desired.
Add juice of one lime.
Shake in Blender Bottle till frothy.
Top with a slice of lime and a jalapeno slice!
Cheers!
Joyfully,
